About the name Eloise
Eloise and Heloise are English forms of French Héloïse, which corresponds to Heloísa in Portuguese. Behind the Name probably derives Héloïse from Germanic Helewidis, from heil, 'healthy, whole', and wit, 'broad'. Wiktionary prefers another explanation: Héloïse would probably come from Éloi, from Latin Eligius, from ēligere, 'to choose', and gives the Germanic origin only as an alternative. In the 2022 Census, IBGE recorded 34,264 people across the group's two spellings, almost always women; the name grew mainly among women born from the 2000s onward.
Spelling without an initial H, which Wiktionary gives as an alternative form of Heloise; it is the most common in the group and, proportionally, it is most frequent in Amapá.
