About the name Taiane

The Dicionário de Nomes em Uso no Brasil (Dictionary of Names in Use in Brazil) says the origin of Taiane is quite disputed: perhaps a variant of Tatiane, from the Russian Tatiana; perhaps from Daiane, with an alternation between d and t; perhaps from the Tupi Tainá with the suffix -ane. Its Morfemário explains that the formative -ane comes from the French -anne and became more popular in Brazil from the 1950s on. For that reason the meaning is not known for certain. In the 2022 Census, IBGE recorded 27,554 people named Taiane, almost always women, with a median age of 25. The same dictionary groups Tayane, Thaiane and Thayane among the spelling variants.

It is the most common spelling in the group, with no h and no y; proportionally, it is most common in Bahia.
