The element Lai- is not listed there, and the origin of Laiara and of Layara is uncertain. In the 2022 Census, IBGE recorded 1,430 people named Laiara and 1,045 named Layara, both almost always female. Almost all of the people were born from 1980 on, with more records in the 1990s; proportionally, Laiara is most common in Bahia.
