About the name Cassandra

Wiktionary gives Cassandra as coming from Ancient Greek Κασσάνδρα (Kassándra), the feminine of Kássandros, and records Cassandro as the Portuguese masculine equivalent. The formation is considered unclear: the first element is possibly linked to a verb meaning 'to shine, to excel', and the second is very probably anḗr, 'man'. Behind the Name also says the origin is uncertain and mentions the Trojan princess Cassandra of Greek mythology. In the 2022 Census, IBGE recorded 4,509 people named Cassandra, with a median age of 25, and most were born between 1970 and 2009.
