About the name Jacimara
The Dicionário de Nomes em Uso no Brasil (Dictionary of Names in Use in Brazil) records the formation Jaci- + -mara and lists Jacymara as a spelling variant. According to the Morfemário of the same dictionary, Jaci- is probably a fragment of names such as Jacira and probably comes from Tupi ya'sü, 'moon', and -mara has three possible origins: a hypocoristic of Maria, Hebrew marah ('bitterness') or Tupi marã ('evil'). Since the source does not choose one of them, no meaning is given for the name. In the 2022 Census, IBGE recorded 1,506 people named Jacimara, with a median age of 34.
