About the name Araci

According to Wiktionary, Alencar created Araci as the name of a character in Ubirajara (1874). Navarro derives the name from the Old Tupi eíra, 'bee', and sy, 'mother', which makes it a parallel form of Iraci; since the character presents herself as 'the star of the day', Wiktionary also allows that it may be a clipping of the Old Tupi kûarasy, 'sun'.
